[Solved]Need to restore computer back to factory settings

January 27th, 2020

I have an HP dv7 laptop that came with vista. I just recently got a free windows 7 legit upgrade disk and would rather install that, but first I have to do a factory restore….
Answer #1
Why do you think you’ll need to restore it at all? Its beyond me
i don’t see any reason why you wouldnt be able to just use the upgrade disc
Answer #2
because it wont let me… if it did I would have done it already dont you think so? it specifically makes sure your system is the original 64 bit vista version or else the disk does not work.
Answer #3
if that’s the case, why not just download the ISO from here… didn’t you get a legit key too???
Answer #4
Its not thinking related , Its fact related , I wondered if you actually tried
to install it just like that and now i know that you did , I didn’t have this information
previously and on the 1st post you didn’t mention it , You only mentioned the laptop
came with vista (Not that you reinstalled vista from a non hp disc) , Anyhows i suggest you
get on HPs site and go thru the tech documents , Its possible theres a hidden recovery partition
that can be used for this , This could be done by recovery disks too,If you got any
Answer #5
If I rememeber correctly HP has a restore partition.
Check Start > All Programs > HP and see if there’s a program to restore to factory settings.
If not try f2, fn f2, win key f2, fn f12, winkey f12 combinations to try and start the recovery options during startup.
