Computer system restore fail with ACER 5734z with Windows 7

November 5th, 2013

Hey,
I recently tried to fix a laptop that lost power while performing a system repair process. I then tried to boot with a linux DVD (Ubuntu) but it just loads upto a point and freezes. I then reinstalled Windows 7 with an installation disk and managed to install it successfully but then after using it for 5 minutes it stopped working and now when it boots the only options it gives me are:
System start up restore
Windows normal start up
Neither of the 2 options will boot successfully and even the installation disk is not working.
Any ideas people? Because I am pretty desperate

Try tapping F8 after choosing the 2nd,If that doesn’t show you any other options,Restart and tap it again before windows boots.

You need to be more specific,Does it automatically restart or do you get a blue screen? And if so,What’s on it?
In what way is the windows disc not working?

Ok I got a acer laptop. I format it every few months using the alt+f10 method
Ok shut off ur laptop then turn it on. Has soon has it turns on keep pressing “Alt and f10” until a menu come up.
I get 2 options when I do the “alt and f10” method
Here’s the 2 options I get
1st option:
Completely restore system to factory defaults
2nd option:
Restore operating system and retain user data
I always choose the 1st option

sounds like you may have a bad hard drive or corrupt partition table
if you can’t get into safe mode (F8) try this
get Hiren’s BootCD and check the drives health
if it checks as good the try deleting and recreating the partition with a partition app on Hiren’s
be careful not to delete the “restore” partition, the one accessed when you “ALT+F10”
