[SOLVED] Laptop USB Mouse and Keyboard Freezes

January 23rd, 2020

I have Acer Aspire 5610Z. I use external usb mouse and keyboard for practical use. and they are plugged via a usb multi hub. the hub’s speed is usb 1.1 not usb 2.0 I have some issue with these hardwares. Especially it started 2 months ago. I’ve formatted my Windows XP but nothing changes. sometimes when i press a button on laptop’s internal keyboard the OS freezes or shuts down instantly. I dont know why but thats the situation. May be usb hub or usb mouse and keyboard causes this problem.
Do you know anything about that? Any help is appreciated.

Answer #1
isn’t there anyone help me about this?
Answer #2
Hmm, have you installed the most recent drivers for the keyboard and mouse. Often, drivers are the problem.
Answer #3
Win XP installs it automatically. I dont think it needs a driver. it is just usb keyboard and mouse.
Answer #4
Have you tried using them without the USB hub? Try plugging them into the USB ports on teh back of the computer. If it still does not work, try using the keyboard first without the mouse…if the computer doesnt stuff up, it may mean a problem with the USB mouse. If it still stuffs up, try again only this time, use the mouse and not the keyboard. If it stuffs up no matter what, it may be the hardware itself. Assuming you did a full format and then a clean install of windows, for the problem to still be there, it more than likely rules out any registry problems. How long ago did the problem come back after you reinstalled windows? Have you installed any applications that may conflict with USB drivers or drivers as a whole? Also, what Service Pack of Windows XP are you running. Upgrade to SP3 if possible and see if it eliminates the problem.
All in all, it could be a setting in the BIOS maybe. Enter the BIOS and take a look at the USB options and see if they are all enabled. If they aren’t, enable them and see if it changes anything.
