RAM frequency and CPU’s FSB

August 5th, 2016

OK, so I’m buying a new set of RAM and I was just wondering – I want to buy 2x1GB at 800 MHz, but does the CPU’s FSB (mine is 9×200 MHz) have anything to do with the RAM frequency? Will I have to adjust the FSB and multiplier of my CPU to match the RAM’s frequency or do they work on their own terms?
Answer #1
As long as your ram frequency isn’t higher then your FSB it will run at full speed.
Answer #2
my fsb is 200 MHz, I just said so…… The multiplier is 9 so my CPU runs at 1800 Mhz. So are you saying that my new 800 MHz RAM will run at 200 MHZ??
