Increase Ram Frequency from 533 to 800 Solved
August 6th, 2016
I have really Problem in my Ram Setting
I have GigaByte G31M-ES2C Rev 1.1 _ Bios Version F6
http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2961
Intel Celeron 3.06GHz with LGA 775 Sock
it Comes with 2GB Ram DDR2 800MHz
but after 2 days it keep restarting with blue screen ram issue
try to change OS many times to Windows 7 and XP
but there is no way to Solve it So i get back this ram to manufacture and get
one Old Ram 1 GB with 667 MHz DiMM PC 5300
and from this day everything is great for 2 Month
but i want increase my Ram Size so i bought DS2-800 D16- 2G 800 MHz
Working fine for 2 Hours only
Then it keep restarting again
Now i am very sure its MB Setting Bios Issue
Cuz when i log in to Bios Screen in MIT i see that
Robust Graphic Booster [Auto]
CPU Frequency [3.066HZ] (1.33*23)
CPU Host Clock Control [Disable]
CPU Host Freq. MHz [133]
PCI EXPRess Freq. MHz [AUTO]
Performance Enhance [Slandered]
System Memory Multiplier (SPD) [Auto]
Memory Freq. MHz [533]
System Voltage Control [Manual]
DDR2 OverVoltage Control [Normal]
FSB OverVoltage Control [Normal]
CPU Voltage Control [Normal]
Normal CPU VCore [1.30000V]
So how i increase my Ram Speed in Bios from 533 to 800 MHz
to could read my new memory
Thanks for ur time
there any update for your bios
in short:
Your celeron cpu can’t run at 800Mhz speed (it’s running at 533Mhz).. So you can’t run your RAM that fast…
So yes: your ram and mobo can run faster then your celeron cpu..
hes right but it should still run at the slower bus speed
you trying to use the old stick with the new stick ?
a 1gig 667(333×2) stick with a 2gig 800(400×2) stick ?
your memory will always default to the lowest rated speed
and I don’t think the CPU has anything to do with the memory speed on that board
the 533 only relates to the CPU bus speed, not the memory bus speed
the memory tab in CPU-Z will tell you the speed your memory is running at
“DRAM FREQUENCY” X2 = MEMORY SPEED
333×2=667 or 400×2=800
post screens of the memory tab from CPU-Z
TIP: “CTRL+F1” at the bios main menu will give you more options in the MIT section
what does your blue screen of death say?
does it say something about “memory mangement”
it sounds to me like you have defective ram..
download and burn memtest86+
download this iso
http://www.memtest.org/download/4.00/memtest86+-4.00.iso.zip
burn the iso using imgburn and boot from cd (go into bios and set dvd drive as primary boot drive)
let this test run for a few hours (3 at least)
if the test comes back with any errors you will see a whole bunch of red words and stuff
that means that ur ram is defective and you will need to buy new ram
i reccomend newegg.com
to buy ram.

I Send to GigaByte and they respond with this
Dear XXXX ,
Thank you for your kindly mail and inquiry. About the issue you mentioned, basically, we do not recommend using different brand/type/size of memory module on a MB. This is because it will cause system stability or unknown problem sometimes. Hence, if possible, we suggest you can install the same brand/type/size of memory modules and test again.
At last, if you still have any further question or suggestion about our products/service, please do not hesitate to contact with us. We will try our best to help you resolve the problem ASAP.
Regards,
GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY
we suggest you can install the same brand/type/size of memory modules and test again.
