Program to measure Bitrate / Sampling Frequency of audio
August 5th, 2016
I am looking for a program (it could be standalone / plug-in / add on, etc) (under Windows 7 – x86) with which I can measure th “Bitrate” and “Sampling frequency” of any audio that is played through a web browser.
For example, there are many websites that offer a preview of audio tracks before you purchase them. I would like to know the quality of that audio played through the web browser. (Example: 24 bit/192kHz)
Regards,
Nzyme
Anyone, please?
Theres Mediainfo http://mediainfo.sourceforge.net/en
Install it and right click on your audio file and then choose View as Text, in that you can see both Bit rate and Sampling rate
What I mean is getting that info for music played through the web browser (Streaming flash…).
Not possible
Download the preview with the help of a program (Replay Media, Audacity,Orbit,IDM,etc.) and check the quality with Mediainfo.
The sample audio is usually down sampled heavily

The sample audio is usually down sampled heavilyThat’s the general procedure with some exceptions I know, but he wanted to know the quality of that audio played through the web browser.Yeah but he’s going to use that to judge the quality that he’ll be purchasing. It’s not going to work

It’s pretty ironic that we get better quality audio illegally than by paying through iTunes or Amazon. iTunes still only provides a poorly encoded 256bit CBR AAC

Hi guys, if that doesn’t work, is it possible to get the “Bitrate” and “Sampling frequency” of any audio that passes through the soundcard in real time? For instance, I am listening to a track in the web browser and the audio ofcourse passes through the soundcard, so is it possible to get that info through some program?
Answer #12
Yes ofc but it would be very difficult for a program to do so. If you stream through winamp you could try “soundmaven” which is in very very premature form. Can’t hurt you though.

Please guys, I am only speaking of audio through a “Web browser” and not through any media player / downloaded file…

use orbit downloader to get the file from the site and then just look at its’ properties in windows
