Program to rip audio from video file?

October 22nd, 2013

it’s not something i’ll do a lot of but there are times i think it’d be nice to rip the audio from a movie file; for example, i’m down with the flu now (sucks big time) and i thought it’d be nice to rip just the audio from a video file of some stand up comedian; that way, i could convert the audio file into an mp3 file and load it up on my ipod and just listen to it with my eyes closed while i boringly lay down and try to rest.
so if you have any suggestions for a program that can do this, i’m all ears and thank you.

I forgot all about it but I have used a program called DVD Audio Extractor in the past to rip a few songs I liked from DVD’s that weren’t available elsewhere and it worked beautifully. But I rarely use it anymore. I got a good working version, PM me if you want it and I’ll upload it for you.

Which program did u end up using
Answer #15
well, i’m a little embarrassed to admit this but i looked up the various suggestions and in the process, i realized that i had an old program called video spirit pro; you can read about it here: http://download.cnet.com/VideoSpirit-Pro/3000-13631_4-10920222.html
since i already had it (and hadn’t used it for so long that i forgot that i even had it!), that’s what i used… but damn, i love those other programs too. a lot of good programs out there. kinda off topic but one of my favorite movies is the bucket list; i extracted just the audio and now i can listen vs watch the movie when i’m in bed; just hearing the dialogue of course, but it’s a movie that’s heavy on dialogue so it works out; same could be said for stand up comedians; sometimes there’s an audio track available but not always…

lol if only it was that easy. It will only extract the srt subs if they are already part of the video file, it won’t magically create subs from nothing.
