PNG icons

I have a PNG icons but how can I use them?
I amd running Windows Xp Pro.

Use the below site to convert them to icon files, then right click the short-cut of the file whose icon you wish to change, properties and change icon. Click browse and navigate to the newly converted and downloaded icon and hit ‘OK’. That ought to do it.

Irfanview with the shell extension will convert them when right clicking them. No messing around having to upload & download them.

When i save a PNG file or w.e image file with that program, as a .ico. It puts a black background on the image. I need it to be just a transparent BG… Any idea, cause I change image files to windows .ico on the fly. This program would be a life saver.
