Cooling Help!

January 27th, 2020

i want to install another fan to help cool off my cards (SLI 9600 gt OC) but there isnt much room in my case any suggestions?
Answer #1
well, you can increase the fan speed with Rivatuner to make it cool better but be warned it gets louder. Other than that, if its a single slot cooler open up a pci slot on the case that is where the cooler vents stick out to expel some excess air. Does little but atleast better than nothing. Maybe take out the side panel and stick a 120mm fan there when gaming or change the cooler used on the card. It is expensive depending on how good of a cooler you want. Or you can underclock the gpu
Answer #2
why not just replace the cooling on both cards?

because after market coolers arent cheap. Its better to try to opt for the cheaper one first, if that doesnt turn out good then go for that option.
Answer #4
good point there, altho the cheaper solution wont be as effective
, i forgot to ask , what are the current temps? modern video cards can get very hot, this however doesnt mean their overheating
so its possible you got a bit confused
Answer #5
altho the cheaper solution wont be as effective
increasing fan speeds on the gpu does do something. Drops temps at great amounts when set to high or medium. modern video cards can get very hot, this however doesnt mean their overheating
true they stand temperatures over 100c+ (maybe 110 to 120) but not too good if its too high.
Answer #6
well the temp is good in all my games around 45 c? I forget but in mass effect I get artifacts and I notice my card is getting hotter and I don’t wanna increase fan speed and wow is that loud it sounds like there is an animal in my case :p

thats fine. Gpu’s dont idle at very low temps, it can go high as well. You will know when the gpu has overheated too much when it shuts itself off and the screen goes back. Then you can worry
Answer #8
haha alright I’m new to all this Haha I’m a noob :p
Answer #9

Answer #12
you might be able to add a slot cooler or 2
google “slot cooler” and hit images to see diff types
the way your case is designed there’s not much you can do to the back
Answer #13

not much of a point for that imo. The cards fan points up so the air flow is pushed up, the only available slot is that one above it and a cooler wont even get close to the fan unless its a really good Thermaltake or Antec one.You might be better off in a bid to stick an 80mm fan where the vents are on the left (have it taped) towards the upper part of it and another fan sitting on top of the black box blowing towards the fan at the vent. Atleast it will create a current to push the hot air expelled from the card out
Answer #14
alright thanks I’m new to all this
