Water Cooling PC Build HELP

November 2nd, 2013

Hi all, I want to make for the first time a PC of my own with parts and not just buy the computer build already. I was wondering if someone who knows what they are doing can help me with the parts I will need for a water cooling system for the computer parts.
I am going to be using TigerDirect to buy my parts….. I have seen some nice bare bone kits there, but I dont know if they are any good for water cooling. So, if someone who knows can really help me out, I would like that very much.
I need all the parts I will have to buy to run a nice 12GB ram desktop with a DUAL HDMI port on video card, or at least 2 dvi and 1 HDMI. Something that can run the latest and most powerful games out right now.
Please and thanks.

Budget, Location, and primary use(s) of the computer?
Also,
newegg > tigerdirect
Answer #2
newegg > tigerdirect
Amazon (with Prime) > Newegg > Tigerdirect ;P
Anyway we need know the budget for water cooling and the current build you’ve planned so far. If you’re new to watercooling I’d suggest going with a closed loop.

I am looking to spend around 1800. I am new to water cooling. Also, why is Amazon better then rest?

I asked you 3 questions, you failed to answer them all.

You attempted to answer the budget question, but we can only assume its USD.

Sorry…… I can spend 1800USD, Location… USA? Used for games and streaming videos to 67″ LED TV via HDMI cable

If you have Prime a subscription you get free 2 day express shipping on eligible items (which are most of them). It’s WAY faster than Newegg’s default UPS ground. + You get lots of extra goodies like Instant Amazon Video, the Kindle lending library and lots of discounts too.
That aside, you could go for this.
CM HAF932 if you want CPU only/closed loop

Corsair 700D/800D or Xigmatek Elysium or Mountain Mods etc if you want to expand wc later with custom loop. Other cases can of course work but will need modding.
ASRock Extreme3 Gen3 Z68

Rosewill HIVE 650W (yes enough for 6950 CF and is a quality PSU)

If you want a closed loop (ie: easy as pie water cooling). Will fit in a HAF932 at the top and easily in the other cases I mentioned.

VERY good beginner custom kits. First one has a 240mm rad while the second has 360mm. You can expect as much as 10C difference with these compared to the Corsair H100.

Some cables, quieter fans for the H100 and etc probably another $150 (optional).
Should round up to around $1800. There are some MIRs in there as well.

Lmao at ^^
Whats with the desire for water cooling? If your not doing SLI and water cooling everything its not as cool as your thinking. You can get just as good cooling with air.
Check out the Noctua NH-D14.

I strongly advise at least 120GB. Were really at the point where we need 240GB, but 120 will get most of us buy still. I’m running a 160GB for my primary drive, with windows/games/apps on it only and I have 15GB free space.

Sounds great… Will take a look at all this and get back to you….

^^ What you mean? I heard water cooling is good for sound reduction and well, it cools better. Also, what you mean about not doing SLI and water cooling? Can you explain a bit more?
Thanks.
PS. I am looking for a bad ass PC, something I can have for a few years.

Exactly. Apart from that there isn’t a lot of benefit you’d get from games. I have way too many games than what my SSD allows and it’s a 120GB. I get around 40 gigs left after installing all my basic software requirements. I rather just keep my games on RAID 0 mechanical drives. I guess if you play MMOs and stuff like that keeping the games on the SSDs might help as they’ll always read stuff off the disk. I keep Counter-Strike on my SSD though.

Water cooling doesn’t improve acoustic performance. Air cooling or water cooling can be inaudible if done right. It all depends on the quality of the case and the fans.

an i7 would be better?

You have to ask more than just is it better.
Obviously its better, but it depends on what you do on your computer as to weather you will notice a difference or not.

Mostly for faster loading time.

You should try a couple of Momentus XT 500 gig hybrid drives in RAID 0, certainly not as impressive as SSD, but they are fast. (expensive at the moment though due to Typhoon in Taiwan)

Thanks will look at it
