bios updating win7 to win8.1 transfer
January 31st, 2018
windows 7 came with mine and im using 8.1 now and didnt have to do anything with updating the bios
If you are having issues sometimes a BIOS update (when available) can remedy those issues, however sometimes it doesn’t address the problem you are having and can compound issues, do a little bit of research on the particular BIOS and see what issues it relates to first and then decide.
i had issues with my hdd being 100% usage
No you probably had the same issue before it just wasn’t easy to see in the task manager.
For some reason SSDs still arnt common in laptops I guess the customer is more likely to by laptop with a painfully slow 500gb hdd than a 128gb ssd. Post the specs/hdd its probably a cheapo 5200 rpm one.
no the HDD in win7 now is idle as laptop is idle. plain and simple. win8.1 laptop idle and hdd spin fast as hell. and my hdd performance is gone down bcz of win8.1 last time hdd is 5200rpm (its 1tb )
acer aspire 5755g i need hdd rather than ssd because i dont game HARDCORE 24/7 … only 3 hours a day maybe . but i dont know what does my hdd have to do with win8.1 using it 100% idle

It’s not the bios 1TB is a lot of real estate to cover. Win 8.1 is set to index the whole thing.
You can change settings to have indexing going on when your not using it like 2:00am, also add a fast USB pen drive about 4 x’s the size of your ram then enable ready boost (built into win 7 and 8.1 and 8.1b).4GB ram = 16GB USB pen drive. Flea Bay has 16GB Lexar T50’s I get 40mps sustained out of. I have 4 running laptops all with variations of this. Really increases the performance if you go the SDD and Ready boast route, even better if you get a pcexpress or pcmcia card with 2 USB 3.0 slots – flea Bay about $20.
The best way to deal with it is pull the beast HDD and put it in an external case (unless you have a removable DVD and a second HDD carriage (Dell does this on most of their laptops). Anyway pull the beast and use it for storage. With USB 2.0 external case I still get around 40mps sustained transfer. Now put in a nice 120+ SDD and no more problems. I actually have 6 TB of external storage on my LT. My desktops went south so I just use the LT now. Set the power option to do nothing when I close the lid then dock it.
Good Luck.
