Win8 upgrade from Win7

August 4th, 2016

I know that upgrading uninstalls(removes?) all the applications, but what about files?
It says “personal files” are kept, but does this include save files from steam, pictures etc?
Thanks.

Answer #1
It will create a folder called “Windows.old” on your LOCAL drive. Ex. C:\Windows.old
Answer #2
Like said. It will create a Windows.old folder which you can get access to all of the file you had before. You can move it to your new C: drive if you like or delete them. I would suggest if your upgrading. Do a clean/fresh install. Save any file thats important beforehand.
Answer #3
save all your stuff to a separate partition or a USB stick/external HDD. save your app data, programme files and local (if needed!) and fresh install and you’re done, copy/paste your app data, local files and so on….
