Best Way to Speed up Vista?

also my internet which I suppose to be getting 25mb but I only get e.g. 9mb?
and my supplier tell me I should at lest be getting 16mb

Install correct drivers, dissable the indexing, upgrade the hardware.
About your internet, did you install the correct ethernet drivers? Wireless internet or cable?
I got all the correct drivers also latest. what you mean by disabling indexing?

but on my device manager there’s no yellow icon marked or anything.
Well, no yellow icon is good.
Windows vista has a new option called indexing, it speeds up the searching for perticular files, but i’ve you have a pretty organized computer or in other words you know where to find you files, it slows down the computer, especially on a fresh install or if you have a lot of small files like mp3 files or images.
Internter is tricky, best things to do would be to change adsl filters if that is what you are using, do speedtests on your network.

How do you know if he isn’t using cable instead of adsl? Looking at the speeds he should get I’m guessing he is using cable, unless he lives in a populated area with vdsl or adsl2+

Seems to be a diagnostics tool, basicly it’s an advanced version of the windows hardware manager.
you could get a different OS that would speed up your pc but u wouldn’t have vista but thats not much of a big deal

Cpu isn’t that powerfull, but it should work fine, so disable indexing & startup software

and test there.

I am using a wireless router but the wireless router is connected to my pc with a Ethernet cable.

That won’t change anything on your internet speeds. That’s like saying your car will drive faster if you put in a different cd player. Best thing you can do is contact your isp or reset your router by pulling out the adapter for half a minute or so.
