Speed up vista

My dad wont let me format my laptop, So how can i speed it up? I already used Headucatiions and Spoonz’s guide to tweak Vista, What else can i do to speed it up.

The reason my dad wont let me format is because he thinks i might mess it up, So installing more RAM he wouldnt let me more of a risk.

virus scanner firewall and virusscanners

Well Vista at the moment is a very heavy OS…the only way that you going to speed it up is more memory…and that’s if your system is up to scratch…

Turn off Aero if it’s used. Use basic or windows classic theme

Unfortunately, one of the reasons Vista is getting a bad rap is because it comes pre-loaded on a lot of under-powered laptops with insufficient memory.
Just a thought, as I haven’t tried it, but what about setting up your own User Account on the laptop, with your own preferences i.e. No sidebar, no Aero… etc.

Because many of them “mess up” – Like crash and stuff, Unless you have one that works good – But even if its tweaked XP looking like vista, if it looks like vista it will still take up lots of memory?

no it wont as xp is way different it will use some memory but no where near as much as vista
also the vista search indexing takes like 25% of ur resources

Change the startups, go RUN, type “MSCONFIG”, then click the “startup” tab. Uncheck those that you don’t want Good Luck!

your dads stupid all he uses it for is porn what does sidebar have to do with looks its not even that visual.
theres alot of tweaks and stuff you can do just download windows vista ultimate its veryyyy nice and visual and very fast.
