Acer Notebook got stuck with updating..

Hi guys,
It’s the laptop of my cousin and i try to solve it for him but i couldn’t.. . The problem is that he get an alert for updates and he did it.. but now the laptop got stuck and you can see that it shows “update 3 of 3 phase 3” but it doesn’t go further then “0% completed”.. . After that it reboots itself and then it keeps going to the same.. .
I tried with to push “F2″(setup) and make a recovery but even that didn’t work.. .
Now.. what else can i do??

Which Windows version is it exactly?
Is the latest service pack installed?
Have you tried using system restore?

Ok man thank you very much!! I took a look and yes it’s the same problem.. . When i’m at home after work i’ll try some things that is written their. Now i’m online with my phone.

It’s windows vista but idk which version exact.. . I’ll let you know.
Btw: i can’t do a system restore since it keeps looping back to the same screen. But my cousin said he already tried with a system restore but it didn’t help.
