But the problem is that whenever I open any file like winrar, poweriso, my computer, internet exploror it says “W32/Virut.Gen”
What is this, sombody please explain.
You probably have cracked them that may the reason. Avira is notorious when it comes to giving false positives

No, no. I suggested that may be the executable of winrar/ power iso has been cracked. Avira doesn’t require cracking. most downloads of Avira here have license key provided with them to allow registration and updating the database. What you have done is right

acutally i do not know about HASH and MD5. If you can explain it then it will be good.
If the version is same i.e. 4.6 otherwise the file is modified and avira is picking it up as infected.
Just checked it on my brother’s computer by downloading from Poweriso website and I got the same hash. You should uninstall it and download and install from here

If avira interrupts, allow it keep blocking the file or quarantine it. If you have downloaded from post here post the link so I can check it also.
simply put MD5 basically is used to check integrity of files. if you and I have downloaded file from same source then it’s MD5 hash should match
Virut is a patching type of virus, it will inject code into the executable files in your computer. Besides what it was programmed to do, infected files may also crush randomly, won’t run at all or run really slow. Cleaning virut is not simple, a format without backing up any executable will be your best bet, or if you want to try to clean it;
Download Dr.Web’s live cd on a clean computer, burn it to a cd and boot the infected pc with it. After the scan is finished allow it to clean whatever it can and delete the rest. Run a full scan with avira later and delete anything remaining. You should have a Win cd handy, in case any system file is infected.

I also recommend a reformat. Cleaning exes from virut can leave system unstable it is best to delete everything. Next time bundle Avira with with Comodo Firewall, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes and check your cracks/keygens in virtual machines.

What does it mean reformat. If you mean Format C Drive then this is not the good solution. Format is the FINAL step. When everybody fails.
i know this virus…….avira definitely detect this one…….but cannot delete this virus cause all system file has been infected bu=y this type of virus…….this virus usually infected exe extension type of a file……this mean if you have software store in your pendrive or hard disk better scan it and delete it……….for your pc…..format is the best way to cure it……..before install any software make sure you scan the software first……because you don’t want to get infected again
Thanks for the suggestions. But I have 160GB softwares collection, and i can’t removed them. I haven’t backup of softwares.
I have given you a possible way without formatting did you try it ?
I have a question… If you have 160 gbs of software THAT you can’t use… do you think it would be easier to reformat and reinstall all the software to were you CAN use it
