Graphic card burned?

August 5th, 2016

I have a graphic card with a very noise fan and I got the idea to replace the fan with an other fan but the fan didn’t fit, so I try a heatsink on my card..
When my pc was 5min running (with the card with heatsink) i touch the heatsink and I ‘burned’ my finger, it was very hot. I shut down my pc and place the original fan again but the pc wont boot with the card Is my card gone to heaven?

I’m sorry, but if the card has reached 70-75 C it died definitely

It’s an Nvidia FX5700LE, I think it’s +/- 4years old (i make my pc’s from different parts that people throw away)

it may mean nothing. the computer was still running maybe because the card died definitely when you turn it off: the burned electirc circuit of the cards could not allow you to turn it on again.

a graca these days can easily handle temps of 70-75C tbh, it’s just not recommended. however if you couldn’t hold your hand to the heatsink then your graca’s core was probly cooking at 100 plus & the PCB could’ve melted. going from what you said you toasted your graca. get a new one.
