rapidshare down?

August 5th, 2016

recently I have been trying to d/l from rapidshare and it seems the site is down – this happend as a free user and as a premium user (not that is matters as I cant get to the page to login anyway!). The reason this is now irritating is that I am paying for the damn service and its not working half the time! Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?
Answer #1
RS.com works, they close a few servers down every few hours of each day like the search engine here at W-BB, the better you refine, the better the service

Yep, use some thing else.
Answer #4

Answer #5
I have the same problem. Perhaps I can get an extra month of rs premium out of this.
Answer #6
If it is so common, you shall have to admit that are having some kind of problems, well they are bound to considering the logistics involved. Hold on and most probably everything shall be great again.
Answer #7

Network Error (tcp_error) A communication error occurred: "" The Web Server may be down, too busy, or experiencing other problems preventing it from responding to requests. You may wish to try again at a later time. For assistance, contact your network support team.

Answer #9
It’s one thing when you are using it free but when you are paying it is totally unacceptable.

It's one thing when you are using it free but when you are paying it is totally unacceptable.
Your right and at first I thought it was just a few users with had problems and now I’m having problems and I haven’t been able to download single file since about 12 this afternoon which is scandalous, we pay for this service and this happens.
But according to RapidShare, it’s an ISP problem and all problems like this should be resolved with your ISP and they have urged that this isn’t a server-side problem as they have checked more than once apparently, this is according to their customer support reply when you ask them whats wrong.
Anyway, they also say it’s not an ISP problem but it’s data struggling to connect via the two and Level 3, the main ISP and storage provider for RapidShare has something to do with it but RS haven’t enclosed anything else but for you to try and ask for support from your ISP.
Please may I also note, ISP’s are NOT banning RapidShare. And RapidShare are not banning it’s Free & Premium Users and if you contact RS yourself you’ll get the same message I and a few others have received.
Hopefully this problem shall clear up overnight I’m hoping

Answer #14

Answer #15
awww this is so annoying!!!
Answer #16
I think that we deserve refunds or extension of premium accounts.
Answer #17
It’s all good now. Rapidshare is alive! back to aaaaaaaarrrggg back to !
Answer #18
I live here in India and I havent faced a SINGLE problem…..Works like charm for me…..
Answer #19
BT here and getting “Network error (tcp_error)”
Answer #20
OK well here’s a partial solution as I too am on BT (who suck and cut your newsgroup speed by 50%). Anyway, I too get the tcp error, as reported on this forum, if you put ssl. after http// the file WILL download, so your link should read http://ssl.rapidshare
HOWEVER, this is no use at ALL if your download games like Gears Of War with 100s of links, as you’ll have to put ssl. in front of all those links, Im writing to ask if there’s a shortcut around this, via a program to automatically put this in key places in text or do you really have to type it in manually?
Answer #21
Thanks tomkat it works like that . It is annoying and i hope it gets sorted soon you will find that its not down all day just intermitent periods
Answer #22
Im having the same problem and im with BT…
the ssl thing doesnt work for me either
Answer #23
Should work mate, btw Ive found a workaround for the multiple links, download RQ Search and Replace and replace http:// with http://ssl. and it will convert all the links into the http://ssl. format, select all, copy into rapget (or getright) and ahoy!
Answer #24
I got round it by logging into site @ https://ssl.~ Dead file host ~/cgi-bin/premiumzone.cgi then just changing link from http:// to www. and it worked fine, still a hassle though.
Answer #25
still, although putting ssl. works its hassle we shouldn’t have to put up with as we a paying for a service, i assume something has gone wrong for british users and i am too having this problem in the UK and i’m on BT. Im sure they are getting hundreds of complaints and will fix the problem shortly.
Answer #26
Same here. Not BT, but RS is down
Answer #27
BT fix problems? Doubtful, plus EVERYONE knows newsgroups and RS is 99% for , even RS know it, its just the politcally correct thing for those companies to do.
Answer #28
BT here and exactly the same problem !
Answer #29
Well I just moved to sky broadband (from BT) so I will report if there is a change.
Answer #30
I have exactly the same flamin problem. I can download nothing with RS, and no response from their helpdesk… if we are all experiencing exactly the same thing. How can they say its an issue with us??!!! I am with UKFSN and my friend is as well and he is able to use RS. Lately RS is definitely becoming less reliable and it is so infuriating when you are paying for a service you cant get!! I am currently downloading with Minnova to get my fav tv shows but it takes ages and i am so hacked off!!! Anyway as you all were havin issues too i thought i would have a rant alongside!!! I personally think they have too many users now downloading and their servers cant cope!! we all payin for it so suggest they invest some money into their service and get it improved.
Answer #31
works for me fine =/
Answer #32
It doesn’t work for me at all any more, even if I change the links. Anyway I can get round it?
Answer #33
Are you a premium user? or just standard account??? It looks like the premium users are not havin this issue… and not sure (perhaps someone can correct me if i am wrong) but the difference is in the IP addressing… the Premium users get their ip address reset each time they log on.. rather than static… which seems to sometimes get corrupted….
Answer #34
Guys – Rapidshare is NOT down. If you are on BT it is a DNS problem caused by BT. The solution is to paste the link as normal then modify it so it reads – https://ssl.rapidshare…
then eveything works fine.
I for one am leaving BT as they won’t admit it’s their problem!
Hope this helps.
Answer #35
Same with me, Im in Indonesia and using HSDPA (3.5G) connection and couldn’t download a single file yesterday.
Answer #36
i had a premium acount taked it for two days by phone but everyfile that i try to download gets stuck after 1 procent more people having that problem ?.i mailed them abt it it sucks never had this problem before
upploading goes but downloading noth wondering why this problem can be anybody can help me?
Answer #37
Hi all, it isnt a problem with BT, i have been talking to a few different people on a few different forums regarding this… There is many users encountering issues now with downloading using RS.. normally with Flashget.. and they use many differernt providers.. BT, UKFSN, Tiscalli, AOL… and all get the same issues..
It can be a number of things, but it can be that RS is down, or there may be a trojan virus in your PC, if you can go online and use the free virus scan via the Panda antivirus website. I downloaded last month a file from for spectrum emulator and the trojan was hidden very well inside of that and had locked onto the updates via the morilla firefox.. it was called pnet and CLICK ME.
Main issue if you never had issues with RS and flashget before is the likely hood it is software on your pc causing it.. try doing indepth antivirus scan and if you can pin point when you first started getting the issue do a system restore for before that date.. should help resolve it.. it defo sounds like this may be the cause.
However all in all RS has been a bit patchy lately.. also log into RS and into administrator and change your password incase someone has hacked it and RS has locked your account… this seems to be happening more frequently too… And dont rely on the RS helpdesk as they just dont get back to you!!!
Hope this helps. x p.s dont shoot me but I work for BT!!!! so i know its not them that doin this.. but steve your right BT service is crap i had broadband with them and left them too now with UKFSN!!!
Answer #38
I have in the last week changed from BT broadband to SKY and no longer am having any problems with RS. However sky broadband is dog slow and they dont give you your username or password that is written into their custom firmware on the netgear router. This is very annoying indeed!
