Can’t uninstall Avira Premium

August 5th, 2016

Hey everyone,
I’ve been trying to get rid of avira for the past day or so now but with no success! The main problem i’m having is when it is uninstalled … my web browsers no longer access the internet (opera/windows and msn messenger too can’t connect). This is despite the fact that windows shows my internet/network connection to be fine.
I have tried using – windows add/remove programs, Avira’s own uninstaller, several program uninstallers (revo, advanced uninstaller, advanced system care) coupled with registry cleaners i.e. ccleaner, advanced system care and avira’s own registry cleaner. But still no luck! everytime it seems like it works i reboot and the problem appears.
When all is said and done the only way to return it to normal i’ve found is to system restore to before the uninstall >_< which of course puts me back to square one.
I’m running Avira antivirus premium 10, on windows 7 64bit.
Any help would be much appreciated!

This sound to me like a ‘deep-freeze’ problem like!
how about you try the uninstalling proces from safe mode, just to see if that works!?
Edited:
PS: check this:

Force Uninstall Avira Antivir
   1. Restart the computer and press F8 Key into Safe Mode
   2. Run Perfect Uninstaller
   3. Click Force Uninstall tab and locate its path
   4. Follow the Uninstall Wizard and uninstall it.

Thanks ,
I’ve managed to uninstall the program and keep all functions so far… problem now is that i have two files left in the Avira directory i can’t delete (the old “you do not have permission to perform this action” crap even though i have full ownership). When i try and install a new antivirus (KIS) it detects Avira antivirus free being installed on the pc and won’t install?? I’ve never had the free version so i’m assuming those two left over files that i can’t delete are still causing problems?
Answer #3
As for that problem, try installing a program called UNLOCKER (it deletes files when you get ERROR deleting them (like file is being used, or you don’t have a permission, or smth like that)
ps; Try to get in safe mode again, and try to remove those files from there, not in normal mode..
post back for result..

Thanks alot for your help mate.
Ok, i’ve tried unlocker with no success. Unlocker has found the files (two dll files) being used by svchost.exe, spoolsv.exe and services.exe and can’t unlock them.
Tried it in safe mode but unlocker wouldn’t work?
I really wanted to avoid reinstalling windows due to the pain in the ass factor but its looking more and more likely >_<
Answer #5
No, Unlocker can delete them, even if they are being used..
You have an option to set it to delete them after the next RESTART..
also, check your STARTUP programs..
go to Start –> Run –> msconfig –> Startup
uncheck everything from there, try again..
Answer #6
I only get the option to delete after reboot if unlocker can’t find any handles.
dll’s are named “avsda.dll” and avsda64.dll”. If i individually select them, unlocker finds no handles on avsda.dll and gives me the option to delete on reboot which i have tried to no success, the file remains.
If i individually select avsda64.dll it comes up with a list of the svchosts/services locking them. I don’t get an option to delete on reboot. When this occurs i’ve tried the delete option in the bottom left combined with unlock/unlock all and kill processes. Kill process attempts to delete and the computer reboots but the files are still there
I have disabled all programs scheduled to run on startup in msconfig as well.

Don’t forget to start CMD as ADMINISTRATOR (just write CMD in the search box in win7, then right click CMD, and select RUN AS ADMINISTRATOR..
and follow the steps..

i finally managed to delete the files, with a comination of moving them (couldn’t move them outside the system drive but managed to get them out of program files), unlocker and safe mode. However .. to my dismay after i deleted them i had the same problem i originally had where my browswers didn’t work and couldn’t get any trickle of internet.
Thank you for your help guys, think its just going to be less painful to do a fresh install of win 7 … and never ever … ever … use avira again.
