Asus P5Q Deluxe- No Hard Disk Detected

August 5th, 2016

My build has been very reliable over the past few years, but now a problem!
When booted I get the Asus flash screen then the following error…
Marvell88SE61XX bios Version 1.1.0 1.7.0d
Adapter 1
disks information
No hard disk detected

I’ve heard of this error before but usually in new builds before the os is put on. I can’t think of anything unusual that could have happened other than a crash, can’t really remember there’s no significantly new hardware in there.
Bringing me onto the specs
Intel E8400 CPU 3.0 ghz
Asus P5Q DeLUXE mobo
4gb OCZ Raptor X RAM PC2-6400 DDR2
ATI 4870 512 mb graphics
2X Seagate Barracuda 300 Gb Sata 300 hdd’s
Enermax 82+ 600w PSU some LG ata optical drive
I hope that’s all the important stuff
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
If there’s anything that I’ve missed that would be helpful please tell me!
Thanks!

Funny running into somebody with the exact same problem when I was just checking out the helpdesk section, I just recently installed an ASUS P5Q and mine says the same. Just a tip, re-installing your OS doesn’t help. I haven’t really put much effort in trying to fix the problem as it still reads my HDD fine. If I were you for technical support I would try TechSupportForum.

If you do happen to get a solution though feel free to post back here and let me know ;]
edit: I searched around and it says you should check the BIOS to make sure that in the boot priority that it reads SATA drives before IDE drives and to also make sure the SATA HDD option is enabled in the BIOS.

try a reset of bios to default values and as 2 posters seem to have the same problem check if there is a bios update

Alright I fixed mine.
I simply went into the BIOS and disabled Marvell

Erm the Marvel controller is needed for eSATA and also some DVD/optical drives as they hate ICH10. Just letting you know.

The problem mine was booting was a different problem that has been fixed. I still get the error but it boots. I’ll disable the marvell adaptor next time I boot.
Thanks for everyone’s help!
