what format of movies i need?

hi if i wanna burn them and watch on a dvd player what type of format do i look for?
i see xvid, dvdrip, etc…
i go for dvdrip correct?
i tried burning one it was .avi file
and it didnt work on dvd player
also i am looking for smallest size quality can be normal not decent but watchable

Use ConvertXtoDVD. It will convert any format and burn it to a DVD so it will play.

how long would it take if i had 2gb ram, and 3.2ghz single core??
say its a 1 hour and 30 min movie around 1gb?

the best is to recode it into mkv (using megui) and that convert into avi

I recommend DVD Flick, it’s open source and works great.

Converting them will probably take a couple hours. If you’re looking for an easier method of playing movies you may want to check out a media player (you can find them for about $100).

ConvertXtoDVD works great..
but..
if u have enough money to buy a dvd, i would recommend you to buy one that reads data cd’s .. and it has the option to read usb’s.. they are not expensive though.
