Answer #11
Do everything they said. Try to learn some tecniques on youtube, regist on a comunity about guitars. I also recommend this youtube channels: http://www.youtube.com/user/rockongoodpeople
http://www.youtube.com/user/guitarjamzdotcom

I strongly recomend to show to a person with experience( a friend or something) what are you doing, to don’t get any bad habit on guitar(bad positions, wrong chords, wrong ways to do certains things, etc) Hope i’d help
Answer #12
When I was younger I had lessons. Get lessons – they really do help.
Answer #13
Get a few lessons for the basics and when you’re comfortable with scales, chords, and a bit of theory, teach yourself.
as people have said, ultimate guitar is probably the best all round guitar site on the net, but seriously nothing beats actual face time with a (good) teacher.
Answer #14
Guitar Pro will be very useful
Answer #15
Congrats on the guitar! Along with Ultimate Guitar, Justin Guitar[/code] is probably the BEST site you will ever come across when beginning guitar. IF you SLOWLY go through the beginners course step by step it will teach you how to play. www.justinguitar.com
Like always pointed though, theres no real substitute for a real teacher, but if you’re like me and were too shy to get face to face lessons, this is the next best thing.
One more thing… keep keep keep at it. Your fingers tips WILL eventually start to hurt but play through it, your fingertips will eventually develop callus’ (dont worry they’ll still look the same) and you’ll be able to play all day.
Good luck
Answer #16
Thanks a lot everyone! I’ll check out all the websites mentioned. One of my friends is a decent guitar player so he can show me some stuff but I think I’ll take your advice and see a proper teacher

Exactly. Computer music is more fun to work with but it’s always nice to hear your own tunes.

My dad used to try teach me.. I started learning in acoustic guitar.. So far so good and I’m learning bit by bit.. Then here comes busy days, i basically forgot everything I learned (lol)…
Is it better to learn to play on an acoustic or electric? Some say learning it using electric is much easier..
Anyway nice guitar buddy, try ultimate guitar

Indeed, I happen to have a Squier as well. Same exact one you have it seems like. Small headstock, It seems to be a bullet strat just like mine. Although mine is of an “Arctic White/Cream color”. I also own an Epiphone Les Paul Special II with Gold hardware and some Japanese Knock-off of a Harmony Acoustic guitar made in the 70s.
Anyway, I’ve been playing for about 6 years now. I’ve learned entirely on my own, I’ve learned chords, Scales, Etc by various charts and websites. I have a friend who goes by the name of Justin who owns this guitar website that is perfect for you. Though someone has already posted his website above, I’ll go ahead and include it in this message too. I consider it one of the best guitar lesson websites available. Also, There’s a website called Chordie, which is a website with guitar chords and more.

Enjoy learning, keep with it, and you’ll be good in no time. Anyone can play the guitar, but it’s hard to master. As i said I’ve been playing for 6 years, But I still don’t have the speed I wish i had. That’s because I don’t practice as much as i used to. If you keep playing for hours, You’ll get good. I used to sleep with my guitar. I used to wake up every day and picked up my guitar first thing in the morning. Then play until my fingers couldn’t stand the pain any more. Trust me, When you’re first beginning, You’re fingers are going to get sore. As you play more, You’re fingers will become less sore, until they don’t hurt at all.
