Answer #1
The P6T Deluxe is a full ATX sized board,While the other is micro ATX
P6T have dual LAN (Single LAN on the GENE) and 6 sata ports (7 on the GENE),The GENE have better
onboard audio (Support EAX 4.0 which is useful for games) , The GENE have 6 onboard usb ports while the P6T have 8
The P6T have an additional coaxial S/PDIF (The GENE have only optical) , Theres probably some diffrences in terms of overclocking
ability,Google for reviews if you plan on overclocking at all , Do note that taking a 2GB single or dual channel kit is a very bad move
performance wise,As with all motherboards that are x58 based , It uses TRIPLE channel and NOT dual , So you would need a 3GB kit or 3 identical 1GB sticks
Answer #2
Can’t I just get one pair of 2GB, and then two more pairs like that to add up to 6GB? (exact same types), or will that not work?
Not like it really matters either way.. I’m willing to spend some extra bucks on the memory to get a 6GB tri-kit.
Answer #3
The motherboards are almost identical. The only difference really is on the Asus P6T Deluxe V2 X58, it has 3 PCIe slots. The Asus Rampage II GENE only has 2 slots. Both motherboards use the same north bridge, and south bridge chip. I would go with the Asus Rampage II GENE.
