firefox crashes when trying to dl from RS/ other servers oso

Hi all, recently my computer can’t download from RS or even other huge data websites like adrive.com etc. When the Save To window pops up, the whole firefox (even IE behaves the same) shuts down. I don’t know what causes this and I have been trying to reinstall Firefox, check for virus or adware but ntg has been succesful. Other small downloads (few mb) is okay, it just happens to RS and other big servers

Well, it can’t be pleasant. First of all click on Tools–>Clear Private Data. There clear your private data and see if it helps. If that doesn’t works then exit Firefox and click Start–>Run (or the start menu search in Vista) and type in “%APPDATA%” without the quotes. There go to Mozilla–>Firefox–>Profiles. Go to your profile and delete the file named “downloads.rdf”. If it still doesn’t work try creating a new profile. You can do it using the profile manager. Close firefox and click Start–>Run and type in “firefox.exe -ProfileManager”. There just create a new profile. Good luck mate ^_^

I’ve tried that when I search in google for help, but it is still the same. Worse is that IE acts the same way as Firefox now..

Please post the error log that you get mate. Also, do you perhaps have a system restore point? If you do then use it. if not get your Windows( that is, if you are using Windows and not another OS). Click Start–>Run. Type in sfc /scannow and let the installation wizard replace your malfunctioning system files. Good luck mate ^_^

Error log as in the error message that popped up? There is not error message. Anyway, I tried installing Opera browser and it worked nicely. Dont know what’s happening though. Thanks a lot for your help anyway, .

Use a download manager like IDM for downloading
