COD4 Graphics

January 26th, 2020

My pc Specs Are as follows
Intel Pentium D 920 @2.80Ghz
1Gb DDR2 667Mhz RAM
2 x 80Gb Samsund IDE HDD's
ATI HD 2600 Pro 512Mb DDR2 Slightly Overclocked
Vista Ultimite

I have dowloaded Call of Duty 4 and ran it on XP and achived good FPS on 1024 x 768 and 2X AA
i knew that upgrading to vista with only 1 Gb of ram it would slow alot of things down
once i installed vista i could play it on the same settings at the same FPS
now i have been noticing a performance increas almost daily
now i can play the game on the max that it allowes and almost no lag :S
what is making this be so fast?
is it beacse my GFX card is realtavly new (as in i got it 2 months ago)
on youtube people can only play at half the settings i have with the same GFX card and better prossesors and more and faster ram
why am i so much faster than all these people??

Answer #1
I agree…1 GB is not enough to run vista on it not alone play COD4 as well…My advice is to upgrade your RAM or go back to XP…
Answer #2
but for some reason EVERYTHING better than xp and alot faster
and i can play cod on maxed out :S
i am so confused as tis is the total oposite of what should happen
Answer #3
By COD you mean the first one…That’s an old game..And less demanding in resources…COD4 and the latest games are memory hangry…
Answer #4
no i mean COD4
Answer #5
There is no way you can run Vista and COD4 on maximum settings on 1 GB Memory..
Answer #6
if you really dont belive me you can ask the member “Lewiz” as i know him in person and if you really want i can provide pics
and i totaly dont get it cos my pc is kinda bad and i can even use Adobe CS4 Master and it is really fast, faster than CS3 on XP :S
i am totaly stumped by what has happened as i was expecting my pc to be like UBER slow on vista ..but it is faster

it stays on about 20 even in battle and it totaly playable and not the slightest laggy
but if i exit fraps and eset smart security (witch i do when im gaming) it goes to about 32 avarage
Answer #8
Well 18-20 fps is nothing to brag about, but for 1gb of ram, that is good. If you went into online play or an intense battle it’d drop big time.
Answer #9
well its a about 30 when i have no fraps and AV ect so thats totaly playable for a shooting game and online it is about the same
but i ma still wondering why each day i can play faster and why is it faster on vista?
Answer #10
What version of Vista do you have?
Answer #11
vista ultamite SP1 as shown is the screenies
Answer #12
Oh, hah. Missed that note. Ultimate eats up resources more than any of the versions. Are you hiding something =p
Kidding, but really your case is odd. And with the whole increased performance daily thing, is it because you are just on a different level each day?
Answer #13
well on monday i had it on with only 1280 x 1024 and 2x AA and no ther good settings and i have slowly increased the setttings over this week and the FPS have not changed at all and when i first installed it i had on riubish and as time goes on i can play better and beter
totaly weird :S but good
Answer #14
Yes it is good. One feature of Vista is it puts constantly used programs in it’s cache, think it’s called Prefetch or something. Your programs may be loading quicker because of this and causing less of a performance hit on your computer.
Answer #15
yea i have heard of that somewhere
does it make my FPS more if i disable earo?
Answer #16
OMg your Wallpaper is soooo HOT!!! PM me I need it fast!
Answer #17
lol ok
Answer #18
Yes, disabling aero should increase performance. Not sure how much, but it should. If you disable everything it will run even better, but most people want their Vista pretty.
Answer #19
ok i disbled it and it MADE IT SLOWER!!!!!!!!!
WTF IS WITH THIS PC!!!!!!!!!!
Answer #20
What the hell haha. Your computer is completely backwards.
Answer #21

Answer #22
Haha, it seems like it would be that way. I guess your PC thrives off of a challenge.
Answer #23
