Need to know an appropriate software

hey,
i`m searching for a good program, simple to use and quick.
i`ve some auudio files that i need to cut, add, convert…… remove part ….add part……
if there `s an option to upgrade the quality of the audio.etc….. i would be nice
can anyone suggest the best program to do this.
also, i`ve some rm files which contain only audio and no vid, how can i convert it to other formats like mp3……
also, tell me of a good app which can extract audio from vids.

you can’t increase the quality of audio. if you try, you’ll only increase the file size.
audacity is a good app for cutting and converting and such.

thanks, but almost all my files are rm which contain only audio.
how will i do this? ca u tell me of an app that can convert rm into audio with the formats supported by audacity or audition.
by the way, is audition that difficult to use. i kno that adobe appz r difficult to use…. is audition also as the others.
