[SOLVED] converted .mkv 720p movie to a dvd

is this possible to convert an almost 8 gig 720p movie in .mkv format to a dvd?

Yes, but its a complicated and very time consuming process. I did it 2 years ago and ever since have steered clear of mkv. If you want to do it, I’ll dig out the papers which I cant beleive I’d throw.
What format is the audio in?

firstly i dont think u can keep the 720p resolution (ie; 1280�720) while converting it to a DVD….u have to bring it down to 720�480 res….(most of the tools descale the res by themselves…)
then again if u really want to do it….then the most basic way of doin it is by first Demuxing the .mkv file…..
once u demux it u will get an audio file, a video file…it also depends on how many audio files the .mkv file has if there are two u’ll get two audio files….
next u got to know which format the audio and video file is in……once u get to know that…converting it to a DVD is pretty much simple…..

one of the common tools used is ConvertXToDVD
putting up a tutorial is very difficult to me…as i myself am not perfect…..
this is the best way i can help u out….the rest u have to research it out for urself….

ConvertXToDVD is you best bet! Simply load your mkv into ConvertXToDVD and press convert! Also make sure to check some options like region, font subtitle and so on. Also ConvertXToDVD has an option to compress the movie to 1 DVD5 (4400 Mb), but you should use custom size like 4200 because you usually end up with couple of hundred Mb over DVD5. Also, depending on your CPU power it can take for hours on max quality!
On my 2.0 GHz Pentium 4, it took about 5 h. Just to give you a sence. Leave it at night or when you are not working on PC.
