720p and 1280 x 544

Total noob question…
I noticed a lot of the 720p uploads have a resolution of 1280 x 544. Are they true 720 or is it just a 720 rip?

Yes they are, or rather, should be. You will find they are huge, 24 or more links of 200mb parts.
1280 x 720 progressive scan i720p
or even better, 1920 x 1080 progressive scan i1080p

They are all 720p the point is fiting at least one of the dimensions 1280 or 720

Yeah, it has to do with the aspect ratio, 1280×720 is 16:9 TV aspect ratio, so movies that are wider that that, like the cinema aspect 2.35:1 have less vertical pixels (= black bars which can be cut out)
