Suspicious E-Mai? Maybe I’m too paranoid. Help?

August 7th, 2016

I got this e-mail. What do you guys make of it? Maybe it’s just spam and I’m being paranoid. Thanks.
The list he is referring to is the e-mail list, there must be 50 or so people on it including me.
This program has been reported to Scanavo and being forwarded to the FBI intellectual rights division. This involves criminal activity and everyone on this list is a witness. I will forward further details as I get them and we will be in the process of getting street addresses for US citizens and forwarding international addresses to their countries enforcement agencies.
Regards,
Danny Rembles

too paranoid, open it…
Answer #2
Looks like a “normal” spam main. Were any files attached or any link in the email?
Answer #3
I figured- there’s no program to open. Usually my gmail catches all spam so I never get this stuff in my inbox. Looked legit. BTW- I like your signature max
Answer #4
spam can it
Answer #5
Gmail doesn’t catches all SPAM mails. Just mark the email and click “Report spam”.
Answer #6
thanks for everyone’s help
Answer #7
heres a trick, try setting a people or buddy list in gmail that who’s mails should be received and others ignored and wont be inside your spam or inbox, that will keep alot of spam mail away from you

I figured out what the problem was. I’m a part of a blu-ray forum and most users there are avid movie collectors and what not. Well, one member group buys a ton of imported movies and shares them with the rest of the people on the forum. I bought a movie from him and was on his mailing list and apparently someone found out about it and found it to be illegal- which it is not. SO, it wasn’t spam but may as well have been.

kinda, most probably they wont give you a notice…
Answer #11
No the FBI wouldn’t give you a notice lol. He said he was forwarding the info the FBI rights department or something–
Hello, I wanted to provide some further information. We are in the process of securing a warrant and seizing Mr XXXX’s Computer(s) and accounts used in the distribution of counterfeit properties. From that information I will get addresses and possible further suspects/witnesses. I understand your concern and at this time I cant provide any more details than this, Thanks Danny
That was the last e-mail.
Either way- it’s not after me so I don’t care !
Answer #12
It’s spam. If all the people the e-mail has been forwarded to are “witnesses” they most definatley have their e-mail addresses viewable to everyone.
