Legal Downloading

July 25th, 2016

Hey,
I need reasons and proof that downloading isn’t stealing. I need to prove to someone that it isn’t.
I’m not an idiot and know that it is, but I really need to convince this person.
Pls help
Thanks

It is an illegal activity to make a person believe that an illegal activity is legal..

most people are going to follow the general way that its seen – Its stealing. The pirate definition is they have one, you download and you both have one. Stealing is you take, so you get the other person has none. Apart from that you wont find many other sources to back you up
edit: forgot about the legal software stuff like freeware, open source etc, has it covered

There is tons of stuff, music, video, ebooks, software that is available to download out there that is free. Legal and without restrictions. That’s not stealing.
There is a lot, music and movies for example, that is out there to download, and while it may be deemed “illegal” to do so, is it really “stealing”?
If you download something deemed “illegal” that you needed or were going to buy, or if you’re sharing it with other people, then sure….that could be considered stealing.
What about those things you would of never purchased. A CD or a movie. You’re not taking the actual CD or movie, only a copy, never touching the original. What if you watch it or listen to it then delete it?
I don’t think it’s so much what you download that determines if you’re stealing but rather what you’re doing with it.
