Second one:
– L3 Cache
– 3.4GHz
– Phenom

From what I’ve heard, I know that the second one has more room for Overclocking because of it being black edition. The first one doesn’t have L3 Cache, but do I really need it? I do a lot of gaming (counter-strike, cod4, bf:bc2) and watch 720p videos. Is it worth shelling out an extra $60 for the Phenom, or is it all just marketing jargon? Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

The L3 cache can make quite a bit of difference depending on the game. Stuff like BC2 love it. I would get the 955 Black Edition though it’s almost the same thing just with the higher stock frequency
Oh and if you’re from Canada why not buy from Newegg?

Phenom ofcourse!
Athlon II X4 640 will run all the games you mentioned without hiccups, I used to use a Athlon II X4 620 and its fine. BC2 requires a good video card for best results.
Blu-ray 1080p stock video only requires a AMD Athlon 3000+ or faster CPU during the initial test. Any decent CPU these days can easily surpass that.
But yeah, I’m using a Atom 330 for my high resolution videos
