Well If your DVD Rom drive have no problem reading other CDs..Then you just have to cut your losses and toss that CD away..
Always allow more than 1source for your backups..
Answer #6
Try to copy that file with TeraCopy:
http://codesector.com/downloads
It should be able to copy that file, but that error will still be there, but maybe you will be able to “save” something you need.
EDIT:
You can download it from here:

If you really need the data off this CD you can try polishing the surface of the CD…

I’ve once used this to recover corrupted files from a old disc before. Worked well. But that was a few years ago, check it out

Be careful to untick the toolbars or other crap which is included in the cnet installer.

Before you throw it away:
Look at the disc surface – no marks or scratches = bad burn originally or deterioration of the burn surface (hole will expand and blend into the next).
Scratched = maybe see if a dvd rental shop, al la Blockbuster, will clean it for you on their machines. sometimes a gentle rub with toothpaste on a scratch will help.
Dirty = clean it, wet the surface and wipe it in one direction with a clean cloth.
Little wibbly maze-like line = fungus attack, dead disc, remove it immediately and check the discs that were near it.

Answer #13
I’m glad it worked out!
That app does wonders
Answer #14
I can remember the days of repairing CRC errors (heaps of them) 0n floppy disks using Norton Disk Doctor..
Trouble is, I don’t think too many actually worked after that..
So you want to test carefully any copied and repaired disk while you still have the original source
