[SOLVED] Enyrpting my disk, but don’t know where to start?

July 31st, 2013

I am of need of software that will encrypt my hard-disk / or individual files. I need something that is military grade, but don’t know where to start….
I have used these before:
– Free File Camouflage (hide files as JPEG)
– Kremlin Encrypt (encrypt individual files)

I want something more better than the two apps mentioned above.
Any suggestion will be appreciated (plz give me personal recommendation)

im sorry but this will not work. a judge has just ruled that they can make you decrypt information on your HD without your primission. the best way to protect yourself against going to jail is doing this

I agree with wo_Ot? on this one, Your simply way too paranoid, Nearly everyone have movies/shows on their PCs
these days. Also, I seriously doubt an anti-piracy group would even need to run forensics on your PC to prove
their case, That’s not the way it works, Basically if you use public torrents or other forms of P2P, An anti-piracy
group can grab your IP, Then they’d forward a complaint to your ISP’s abuse department which will forward it to
you, In most cases you’ll only get a warning at first, But if you’ll continue sharing the file, They’ll either try to
obtain your info using a court order then sue you, Or try to extort you (as in pay us X amount of money or we’ll sue you)
So you see, Your IP+INFO+PROOF that your IP shared X file is all they need really. As long as you use file hosts/usenet/private torrent sites your good. (Demonoid is not considered private btw)

I LOL’d when I read this, Without your permission?!? What they’re gonna do, Read your mind?
Anyways, In some countries a person can face jail time if he refuses to hand out the password (Especially in the UK, RIPA act) but one certainly cannot be forced to do so! Only a complete fool would agree to self-incrimination.
I’m pretty sure your referring to this ruling:
http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2012/01/judge-orders-laptop-decryption/
It goes against the 5th amendment, I doubt it’d hold up, It’d probably be appealed to the supreme court sooner or later.

TrueCrypt has been the de-facto standard for encryption in recent times. I’ve been using it for quite some years on my corporate laptop and honestly, it is way better than premium and paid applications.
Furthermore, paid applications do not always mean that they are good. There are plenty of open-source free applications which do jobs better or equally good as compared to paid applications.
