Recovering Damaged/corrupted files?

July 25th, 2016

ok so a long time ago, my wife accidently deleted some pictures and didnt realize it i have active@ undelete and i scanned my drives and its found what i needed to save.
but when the pictures are recovered they cannot be viewed i tried using stellar jpeg repair to no avail does ANYONE know how i can save these pictures? i dont mind if the software will take 3 days to repair them i just need to try and get them back. im willing to jump through all kinds of hoops to get this done…
thanks!!

To be brutally honest – if the recovery found them as overwritten AND Stellar couldn’t replace the jpg headers then I’m sorry.. but in my opinion you’re SOL.. It’s likely the overwritten parts are too badly damaged for proper recovery.
Upload one to a file host (medieafire or wikisend) and i’ll have a look at the coding for you. Pm me the link.

“a long time ago” probably means, as Fluff said, the files have been written over with other files.
Probability of success is very low.
Were they taken from a camera? Depending on the size of your SD card in the camera, and how often you use it, you might have success in recovering the files from the SD card.

Good point – even if you moved and deleted them from the SD card, if you haven’t used it (or used much), you’d have better luck recvoering them from the flash card.. hopefully!

no when i get home i copy them off the card immediately and then go back t using the card, there have been hundreds if not thousands of pictures on the card since then
well damn that sucks. thanks for the quick replies tho!

It depends on the size of your SD card – even 2000 pics at 2M a pop = 4G
If your SD card is 32G for example, there’s a good chance that you will be able to recover some of them.

i take pictures in RAW and JPEG format and have had that card maxxed out to the T at least 20 times since those pictures were on there
when i look at the properties of the jpegs now it shows them with their original or close to original size and everything
