Assistance reformating read-only Dell FlashDrive

I have in my possesion a
8 GB Dell Microsoft 7:Ultimate reinstalliation flash drive.
I don’t need it, due to the fact I can pirate it whenever I need and my primary focus of this is to format it to install OPENSUSE. I try formatting by Right click>Format, and I’m greeted with “Disc is write protected”.
I then proceed to attempt command prompt work around, and says works, but I’m greeted with same message.
I download program explicitly for formatting these drives, and I receive same outcome!
HOW DO?!

Is there a sliding switch on the USB itself. Some of them have this to prevent accidental rewrites.

Did you try deleting the partition and recreating it instead of formating?

It’s a 8GB flash drive. Hardly worth bothering with other than the fact you can’t format it.
For the images just use thehttp://www.image-share.com/upload/2778/58.jpg
part and use the img [] [/] wrapper like this:

I’m thinking it has been placed in a case without a write protect switch, to keep it from being written to.

you will be able to get a 16GB or larger flash drive by selling this with the value of the OS (that is if it still functional) then buy a blank one.

I mean come on.. There must be a way to get files onto this thing. It’s an 8 GB flashdrive, but only 4.35 GB are taken up by the OS.
Plus, it actually says there’s 500 MB still available for storage. Unless it’s compressed to extract User data for profile.
Even if the only means is disassembling it, hard-wiring into my smaller flash drive, and then installing a regular sized bootable Win7 ISO.
Let me put it this way;
The flash does not need the currently present OS install, so long as it has what appears to be exactly the same flash drive with Win7, All will be Mount Pleasant in the quarters of occupation and none will be any the wiser, as this drive will NEVER be used in the first place due to 4 back up HDDs and multiple Re installation and repair discs…
It just.. one of those situations. Special Operations affinity. Believe me, the thing would be long gone by now if I had a choice..
