cap my dataspeed to 256 kbit/s

January 29th, 2020

Hi,
Can I cap my dataspeed to simulate 256 kbit/s? I would like to experience what it is in real life…

Answer #1
There may be a bandwidth control in your modem/router..
Answer #2
correct, my Netgear ( or even from your dl manager, I use Mipony and the option also exists) allows this, but why live like this is real life…real life is much faster and you will only do this once I bet
Answer #3
mipony is a downloadmanager?
I wanted to simulate website browsing. Is this possible? I don’t have acces to the router…
Answer #4
try it, dl Mipony and under Options you can set the speed to as low as you want, but this for downloads only.
if you want to limit the browser speed ( u must be doing a school study) then I think this is not possible unless you contact your isp….otherwise select a dial up connection from your browser option, if possible. This use to 56 k.
Answer #5
i see. So possibly it’s a browser option (for browsing)? If you know wich browser, please advice so I can try it out. I’ll try to google it…
Answer #6
Have a look at Netlimiter

Did you miss the 26.4K speed through the telephone line? You don’t want to experience this for more than one minute
