3D SBS for PS3

October 15th, 2013

So I wanted to ask you guys (whoever has experience and knows this), does the PS3 play FULL SBS video files found on this site? Or do you have to use half resolution SBS files? Kinda depressing if it can only do half SBS because as the name says.. half resolution.
Thanks!

PS3 can play 3D movies, but you still need a 3DTV that can force videos to play in SBS/Over Under/2D (PS3 doesn’t have 3D options)
And please note that PS3 doesn’t support .MKV playback which most encoders use it at Warez-BB

Yes, TVs like a Samsung 6000 3D will play SBS movies OK direct from USB.
Here is a Vid about PS3 and 3D..

Thanks for the response guys. Well I’ve purchased a 3D TV (LG) online (which should be here in a few days) with an HDMI 1.4 for the PS3. From research, I found the TV can handle .mkv, but it cannot decode DTS audio. And I know the PS3 doesn’t support mkv OR DTS (from rips). DTS works fine if its an optical disk (dont know why) so, whats the solution to this?
Convert mkv+dts audio to m2ts? if so, what would be the best method?

Since all you want is to convert MKV to m2ts then give this a try

Hi I have a lg 3d tv ad use this program to convert my dts sound, its billiant and works perfect MKV2VOB

Nice, these files found online convert nicely with MKV2VOB. But I ran into a problem…
1. I definitely cant stream 3D SBS files to the PS3 wired or wireless (lag’s like crazy, and I’d be lucky if I even get out of the intro)
2. I copied the files to the PS3 directly, and same problem as above…
So what gives? :S Is the files too large and extreme for the PS3 to handle? I set everything to automatic on MKV2VOB, and it created a AC3 audio MPEG file.
So this is the only format I actually tried so if anyone converts to a particular format, can you let me know?
I’m going to give m2ts a shot, but I have a feeling if MPEG isnt running properly for 3D SBS files, I dont know how good the chances are for m2ts to work. -_-

Okay ive tried converting the file to m2ts with MKV2VOB and copying it onto my HDD. No hope, still lags and does not play past a few frames.
Answer #9
That’s playing direct into USB on the TV ?
Answer #10
I havent connected any USB or HDD to the TV, I’m trying to use PS3 to play the content. I have no external HDD or USB drive thats larger than 1gb.
Copying converted mpeg, m2ts, mkv files to the PS3’s HDD (9gb’s through wired network from PC to PS3) – doesn’t allow the file to play at all (only few frames before it struggles and dies).
Streaming isnt an option in both wired and wireless (tried both with different formats).

Best to wait till you get a portable HDD and try it through the TV in USB.

Portable HDD works! Woohoo. Just had to convert the audio to non-DTS because TV doesnt support it. But MKV was perfectly fine.
But question now is, why cant the PS3 handle it? :S
