Windows 7 updates suck. Help please

for 3 weeks now, Windows Update keeps informing me that I need to update to Service Pack 1. So, I tried, and an error occurred and it couldn’t complete. Thought it was something I may have done, so I tried it again. Same thing. I looked around on Microsoft website and it said to install a file called something like winfix and that it’s been a problem for some Win7 users. Installed the fix, and the same damn thing keep happening. Anyone else having this problem? Do I really need the service pack?

Well, why don’t you reinstall Win 7 with SP1 from this site?

So what was the EXACT error that windows gave you?
What are you trying to do other than to update SP 1?
Is updating SP 1 the only thing that you are trying to do?
Are you trying to update and not being able to actually get the update to download/install in your computer so that you don’t have this error of which you do not even mention what type of error you are getting?

….. is not prudent as you may not be getting exactly is supposed to be inside the original .msi file. Best to download from official site in instances like this.

Try installing the standalone version of Service Pack 1 instead of from Windows Updates. You can get it here:

I agree with night. Get a new install, it sounds like your version of windows have “issues”
