Will an SSD increase FPS while streaming?
August 7th, 2013
At the moment I get good FPS in games when not streaming (apart from the load times).
When I stream to Twitch.tv my FPS drops, so this makes me think – Is it because of the hard drive?
PS: I’ve ran the seagate hard drive DOS fixer/scanner and it’s come up with a an error. Can’t remember the exact error now though. But it said something like “Return for replacement” so it’s obviously bad.
My specs:
i7 920 @ 3.2Ghz
ATI 4890
Maxtor HDD 7200 rpm (I think…)
Using XSplit to stream.
Thanks for the help!
Dodi300 replied: Hey. I have a fairly old HDD which has been getting very slow this past week (things take a while to load or freeze for a minute / Windows takes ages to boot / overall sluggishness) so I've been thinking about getting a SSD drive to replace it.

how much RAM? If you dont know about your HD, better check it
out and report back. We wont know your hard drive
do you get at least a 5.6-5.9 on your windows experience index for Hard Drive?
what is overall number. I know it is just numbers, but a 5.6 is very different
than a 7.9
When I am uploading at full speed with a good SSD, I can play
games with no effect at all.
Ah, I knew I forgot something! I was looking at the specs I wrote and was like “Hmmm, there’s something missing…”.
I have 8GB of RAM (2 x 4GB DDR3).
The hard drive is a “MAXTOR STM3320613AS” and the Windows experience thing says the rating for the HDD is 5.9 – which is the lowest.
Thanks Tooth!
EDIT:
This is the Hard drive details:
