Why is adding topmail to a smartphone mail app impossible?

January 25th, 2020

Can anyone help me please I use topmail and want to add it to my smartphone mail app I have tried several different android mail apps and followed the IMAP and pop 3 instructions to the letter on the topmail site and just keep getting rejection messages again and again I am getting fed up at this stage so can anyone tell me how I can access my email from my adnroid phone
Answer #1
I looked at site and from what I can tell the plan you’re most likely on is Web access only.
Can’t you just use browser to go there?
Answer #2
Yeah I can do that but it would be much more convenient to have the app where it would give notifications when I get emails and I wouldn’t have to keep checking online.

https://www.topmail.com/features/pop-and-imap/
These are the parameters you must use. Not wide known services are not added automatically. You have to manually configure them.
Answer #4
Thank but I tried both settings already on a few different occasions and neither work.
Answer #5
The joys of using a mail protocol that should have been abandoned in the 90s, When you say you tried both settings already keep in mind that this is a notoriously fiddly operation with load of options from ports to authentication methods to encryption etc *2 because theres different settings for the incoming and outgoing mail and if you don’t get everything perfect or if the settings change at any time it all needs to be done again. Sigh.
If all that is entered correctly you should be able to receive your mail using a 1980/90s mail protocol.
If you would like to use email that dosnt suck get an exchange account.
Answer #6
The account isn’t for me it’s for someone older who has used it for years and is not going to change over now. I tried all the setting on 3 different mail apps some of the apps didn’t give all the options listed on the topmail websiteI never got passed entering them in on any of it every time it tried to authentic the account it just kept saying failed very frustrating.
Answer #7
Yeah the terminology might be different than what they use in outlook this should be what you need

They are the same things I posted… Are you sure to have tried them?
Answer #10
Yeah I found that page you linked to but some apps didn’t have anywhere to input smpt while others didn’t allow to enter any outgoing information.
