Why does my Xbox 360 make such a loud noise?
January 21st, 2020
Anyway, I got my Xbox yesterday and spent like an hour putting music on it. But afterwards, I put my Forza Motorsport 2 in and it made SUCH A LOUD NOISE when I was playing it, it did the same for Viva Pinata as well.
Any answers?
Thanks
Microsoft have stated in a previous press meeting that the 360 does make a continuous noise while being operated, this is normal and unless your 360 isn’t playing correctly then there isn’t a problem. Any 360’s will be refunded or exchanged if under warranty.
Don’t worry about
Oh ok, thanks mate
Is the noise from a moving part such as a spinning hard disk or cooling fan?
I don’t know, but the noise only happens when I play a game.
That’s the disk drive, because Microsoft are stupid and can never get anything right. I got the older 360s when they came out, they are doomed to have the 3 red lights eventually. The newer ones are less likely to get the red lights, but they messed up on the disc drive this time. Maybe ring them up. You can find their number on the XBox site.
Even though my 360s are doomed. They are sooooooooo much fun…
So do you think I’ll get the 3 red lights? I only got it yestreday…
my mates 360 makes a huge racket when playing games too, i think its the disk drive.. when its playing music from the HDD it doesnt make much noise at all but as soon as you put a disk in, it gets really loud.
just my 2 cents
ps. C.Ronaldo is a ~ censored ~
I doubt you’ll get the 3 red lights, the newer 360s prevent it somehow
But I don’t know what is up with your drive
Hi,
About the loud moise that your Xbox 360 makes, this is quite normal.
Only the Samsung drive is the one that makes the least noise.
Its all because your drive doesn`t spin-down.
On a PC your drive spins-down at a certain time, mostly it spins-down when there is no data transmission.
Really don`t know why Microsoft didn`t choose for this option to be available in the Xbox 360.
Maybe its due to hardware limits.
Anyway, i know that its sometimes a bit frustrating, but if your drive mallfunctions, Microsoft will place a new one in your 360 for free.
Also heard that some people ask Microsoft to place a Samsung drive then, but knowing Microsoft its no guarantee they do so.
So better get used to the loud noise, at the moment there is no solution for it so far.
Greetings,
Thanks & . I asked my mate at school today if his Xbox does the same and he said everyone who he knows that has an xbox experience the same problem. He said its fine
Thanks so much for your help guys
it depends on what kind of noise you are talking about! the wrong noise means it is about to break.
if its louder than the TV than call them for a swap.
Go get your money back and buy a Wii
@ My brother said it’s nothing, an my PS2 was like that as well, so it’s fine.
@ Guily Conscience, no thanks
I think that’s problem solved, thanks!
The new xboxs are quieter if you want to get a new one.
