Yea it ’cause there is some dust and hair balls around the cooling fan. Use a air pump to blow the dust out. A soccer/basketball portable pump would be the perfect of that 🙂
Something like this:

Ok. I dont want to wreck anything though.
Answer #6
no one should [bold]EVER EVER[/bold] blow the dust out, it should be vacumned out. you can also help the cleaning process by loosening dirt with an old toothbrush etc, while vacumning it. The reason is compressed air can develop a static charge, short circuiting your pc. and that would be bad. intimate hardware knowledge can be helpful, as dismanteling the entire pc really helps this task, but isnt nessecary. I try to clean mine about every 60 days or so.

its actually the other way around vaccuming the dust out creates static eletricity, as said just use compressed air, do NOT under any circumstances use a vaccum cleaner as you could fry vital components

You should never vacuum dust out. I dont know were got that idea lolz You buy a compressed air can. I personally use gasduster its cheap i got two bottles for 10 bucks at Office Max it looks like this

It blows air strong enough but if you never dusted your CPU fan you will need to use some Q Tips and gently remove some hard dust that has build up. If cleaning up your computer doesnt help, maybe you need new CPU fan. You need to pay attention to what exactly is making the noise. It could also be the PSU fan or a cooling fan. Or hard drive or DVD drive. You say humming but dont describe it well enough.
Answer #9
I use a vacuum cleaner with a round horse hair brush on the end of the intake tube and a fine bristled paint brush to loosen the dirt
think a toothbrush is a lil to stiff to be sure it won’t disturb anything
same with a Q-tip
I’d remove and clean it before I’d use either of those
don’t like compressed air as it blows dust all over and maybe even into other components
compressed air is good for blowing out a keyboard or mouse where you can move it away from other components
Answer #10
Try Using Compressed Air 2 blow out the dust out of the fans.
if not try using a soft brush and a vaccum and your done……if the noise is still their try replacing the fans because they might be old now.
Answer #11
yeah…try t o locate the problem and then eaither clean/replace it
if its the cpu fan then its easily replaced for next to nothing
Answer #12
You could try SpeedFan to turn down the fans a bit ( Don’t overheat the computer!)

Answer #13
Now I dont know what to do. Everyone says something different.
Answer #14
ok then hope this clears things up a bit. Its a summary of all the posts:
Use a vacuum to clean out some components that cant be taken out but dont get too close, for parts that can be removed use compresses air such as keyboard, mouse, cpu cooler, fans etc. If that doesnt help, check that the fans are sleeve bearing not ball since ball bearing is louder. Its located on the sticker. Finally if thats not the case the fan might need some oiling look at this:

Answer #15
All that cleaning whilst being a good thing to do may not affect the noise at all it may be caused by case panels resonating try pressing on various case parts to see if that changes the noise for starters Hold the fans to prevent rotation ONLY FOR A SECOND OR SO to see if its an out of ballance fan (due to dirt or bearing wear) clean or replace as appropriate if if fan stoped = much reduced noise
Answer #16
Try using software lik Speedfan to control your fans if noise is your problem.

Ok well im not trying to be arguementative, but that site u link to says to vacumn and not to use compressed air. I do use a battery powered vacumn like your website link says. Try to proof read your links before you post untruths.
Answer #18
clean your cpu!
clear it of dusts n all!
thats the best sol!
Answer #19
break the bank balance and buy a new computer
Answer #20
Should I just get a new fan?
Answer #21
Compressed air is NOT a good choice for cleaning computer components. It can permanently damage them (Except if its like a mouse/keyboard) I too use a vacum cleaner with a soft bristle cleaner head. The reason your PC may be humming is on of the two reasons 1) Fan is broken/dirty
2)HDD is making a lot of noise while thinking(This could mean its time for a new one)

sorry to resurrect an old topic, but what the hell you talkin about??
compressed air blows dust out from crevices that you wish the vaccum could get out. Just because you see a dust ball get sucked into a vaccum doesnt mean there isnt a blanket layer of dust on the parts. You need compressed air with the straw attachment to get to those parts cleaned…. Unless you want to crank up the vaccum onto SUPER SUCK and hope a loose wire end doesnt get into there and you dont accidently ran the tip into a chip or transister. I ONLY use a vaccum for dust balls i cant get with fingers (while grounded of course). But thin layers of dust will still B there..
Oh and when you do use compressed air…put something over you mouth because youll see a black cloud of dust dust come out and spread around the area…not the best thing to breathe in.
Answer #23
clear out the fan, most likely its clogged.
