Why are 720p and 1080p rips so quiet
August 2nd, 2013
Most of the times 720p and 1080p rips are so quiet that I have to tune my loudspeakers to maximum. If you put the sound into headphones its like listening to whispers.
Why does that happen and is there a way to fix that?
its because the audio is ac3 5.1 that format of audio is always quiet but should not be as quiet as you say it is
what app are you using to watch the videos?
Not really never got this problem………maybe it’s an encoding problem
Go into the audio settings of your player and make sure the sound output is set to 2 chan (stereo) rather than 5.1 or whatever.
You may also find a “Normalizer” setting that can boost weak audio
There may also be settings on your sound card control panel that need changing to stereo.
I never had this problem before, if you’re using 2.0 speakers make sure you set it to 2.0 as output.
Tho not the OP, I somtimes get this issue too. Might give the speaker settings a try. Thanks

I use Bs-player and I tried a bunch of movies to test it so I found out about 1 in 5 movies is very quiet the others are generally fine.
I am guessing its encoding problem then.
Never faced this issue when watching the movie on my laptop or the HD Lcd with its speakers(no 5.1 surround sound) rather the sound is clearer and better. Check the software in which you are playing and try a different one. Also check the downloaded movie. Does this happen will all or most of them?

this is what you need to do
this will mix the center (voices mostly) channel to stereo output
I also find that choosing a dolby setting might help
I played around with the settings… its probably encoding problem because after all it does not happen so often just with some movies
