Where does the Homegroup icon go?

August 8th, 2016

I let a friend use my laptiop yesterday and when I got it back, a Homegroup icon was sitting on my desktop. I checked the “Properties” and it’s the original, not a shortcut. I don’t know how it got there, but I need to put it back where it belongs. Does anyone know where it goes?
I’m running System 7 Home Premium, version 6.1.7601.

It goes to my house!
On a more serious note, Nowhere. It can either be displayed on the desktop or not. Refer to this guide:

Set that aside, Do you normally lend your laptop to others? It’s not really a good practice (Security wise!)

Thank you for your reply. No, I don’t normally lend my laptop to others, but it was my boyfriend, and all he wanted to do was play Bejeweled. Sheesh.

If you have two (or more) computers in a household using the same internet connection you can create a homegroup so you can share stuff between each computer.
In my house there are three computers. Mine has homegroup settings ‘disabled’ but my wife’s laptop has homegroup enabled. For some reason or other I keep getting a Homegroup icon popping up on my desktop when both hers and my computer are on at the same time. When her computer is off the Homegroup icon on my screen doesn’t show.
Perhaps your boyfriend has linked both yours and his computer into a homegroup so he can spy on you.
