How to access my homegroup from outside of my network

January 24th, 2020

Does anyone know how I can access my homegroup from another location? Like how can I set it up so that my brother can watch my videos on my homegroup from his house while at the same time not allowing the everyone to log into my homegroup only the people I want to.

Do you mean you want only select computers to be a part of your Homegroup? If yes, then that’s simple – you just share the Homegroup password with only the computers you want
Take a look here for more information:

But all in all, as mentioned, how well you can stream video would depend on your available bandwidth

I can only think of a secure way of doing it, which is ssh. You can setup an ssh server to allow only your brother access. But your brother will have to download the movie from your server in order to watch it.
Or you can use join.me. I only used it once with a friend on irc. And it was pretty cool. You can basically see what they are doing. You can even allow them to take control of your desktop.

thanks for the replies was asking because I have seen sites out there that you can just click on a movie and watch it mostly bootlegged ones and was trying to set something up so my brother could watch my movies from my house while he is at his house and I don’t need to use homegroup but if anyone has any ideas on that could you post a link to a page explaining to me how to do this so that way I can only allow his ip access, thanks
