VGA Memory Problem With Win 7

January 22nd, 2020

I have ECS intel g31 chipset motherboard with 256 Mb onboard Graphics memory(Intel GMA3100)
I have instaled both xp and win 7…. but win 7 shows my graphics memory only 64 mb when xp is showing it as 256 Mb.
I cannot play games on win 7 because the games setups identify my GPU as a 64Mb one. Does anyone know how to increase my VGA memory in win 7?
i have already tried installing graphics driver from motherboard cd.
Please help me out !

thanks for the advice .. but my problem is not with performance of windows 7 itslef, it runs fine.
Ok let me put it this way… how can i play games which require more than 64 MB of Video memory (which i think almost every game requires ) on Win7 ?
P.S : I have played games on same system with win Xp in it and at that time my video memory was 256 MB which is now 64 MB

try the latest drivers from intel’s site
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
also check your bios to see if there’s an option in there

that’s all shared system memory and 7 seems to ID it diff than XP

i have already tried installing graphics driver from motherboard cd.
I would download the newest drivers from your Laptop? manufacturer, onboard GFX cards tend to have all the driver updates on the vendor’s websites (HP, Dell, etc.)
Note that win7 and XP handle memory very differently

heard there’s no aming support in “XP mode”
it’s more for legacy business apps and don’t think VMware duz 3D video acceleration you could dual boot XP & 7
