memory confusion…
January 25th, 2020
according to a crucial memory scan my motherboard supports 1066mhz ddr2 RAM
however according to the product specification on the gigabyte website it supports only 800mhz ddr2 RAM
product spec: http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/Motherboard/Products_Overview.aspx?ProductID=2321
if my mobo does support 1066mhz RAM im deffo gonna get me some =D
can anybody tell me weather or not it supports 1066mhz RAM?
thanx in advance pplz =]
Not worth the effort. There’s minimal performance gain going from DDR2 800Mhz to 1066MHz considering if you have CL4 800Mhz RAM. DDR2 1066Mhz RAM will typically have CL5 (5-5-5-15 etc) so if you do the math they are all about the same. Unless you plan on overclocking a lot 800Mhz is enough and if you got a good pair of sticks you can easily clock them to 1066Mhz via the BIOS by loosening the timings. I’m pretty sure the motherboard supports 1066Mhz memory a friend of mine got the DS3 version of that motherboard and he got his memory @ 1000Mhz so it’s safe to say it can go up or above 1066Mhz as well.
yeh i might get myself another 2gb (2x1gb) of corsair ram….the price has recently dropped to only 25 =D
1066 is basically overclocked 800, add .1 to the ram voltage and run the timings @ 5-5-5-15 cl2 and you ought to be able to hit 1066 with your 800

ahh well this corsair ram hits those timings as standard so all i need to do is up the voltage =]
come to think of it id like to up my performance a bit what do you thinks bottlenecking my rig? (specs in signature…ask if you need to know more)
thanks
i would say your cpu. look @ a e8500 will hit 3.6 easy on air 4.0+ with water, and when uyou oc your ram DO NOT exced 2.3v that will fry the sticks.
look @ a e8500 will hit 3.6 easy on air 4.0+ with wate
E8500’s can do 4.5Ghz on air.
ahh well this corsair ram hits those timings as standard
That’s not a good thing. Lower timings = better.
also a q6600 is a real little champ as well, i had mine running @ 3.4 stable on water with darn near stock voltages

well ive just won an arctic freezer pro7 on ebay for 6 i know its not the best aftermarket cooler but at 6 brand new its a great buy…
my e6300 is suppsoed to be a good overclcoker, i have it on 2.2ghz atm on stock cooling an it hasnt exceeded 50c
yeah 4.5 on air with a true120 but still with high temps its a stock 3.2 g chip and @ 4.5 that is running a gool volt increase. with a vdrop mod
Naz
You can do 3Ghz on an E6300 with a good air cooler. I know because I’ve done it myself. Get a good cooler instead of the memory and overclock the CPU further it will boost your performance a lot more than adding 2GB’s of memory.
true what TheDA said about ram. and 4.0 gigs of ram will require a x64 os to see it all
Naz
well hopefully the arctic freezer 7 will see me through to a 3ghz OC
what multiplier settings and voltages did you use on your e6300 to reach 3ghz?
and what was its load temps?
Didn’t change the multiplier (don’t think you can even do that). Changed the FSB to 400 and loosened the timings on the memory. Nothing else.
u never even touched the voltage? or did it automatically change?
I had mine set @ 1.2v. Depends though although can’t really say on what. Different people get different results.
