USB Lock/Unlock with Password for Security

– BitLocker Drive Encription – Winrar-ing Files into .Rar protected Files
The first Method comes from M$, so its defently not really a protection.) WinRar ist otherwhise good, but i learn alot about Cracking Rars password and such stuff, you know..) And i have to Winrar/Unrar it, then i need a Data Shreddering Tool or such one to delete the Content everytime from my Disk…
So i want to ask you, is there a Way to leave the Files on the USB drive “visiable” but to protect the USB drive with a Password, so that becomes unaviable to everyone?
If you get a solution to this, please mail the method to me, thanks.
Use portable ‘Folder Lock’ software. That will do what you want. Find it in Applications section in .

Thank you, i going to try it, if i find the registed Ver. Looks very good. @ FolderLock isnt really that good, and i think it doesnt work if you open the USB with Linux.
Use Storage Crypt it’s a fantastic piece of software
Guaranteed too lock your USB drive when the drive is locked with this software you can take the USB drive too another computer an it won’t be accessible because your have encrypted it with the software

And i have to decrypt them everytime, so not really bettes as BitLocker. Thanks anyway

Of course you would have to decrypt your USB drive every time =/, that’s the whole purpose of encrypting it., so no one else no the password but you.
I thought that’s what you were after? =/
The USB drive would not even be visible on any other computer unless you have this software installed.
In Folder Lock even if you encrypt, the files are visible in Linux. What about Storage Crypt?

Good question, never tried access any of my USB devices via linux while they were encrypted with this software.
But I did try it with three different versions of Windows Xp/Vista/Win-7 an the drives were not visible.
The protection purpose would be defeated if you could just take it an view the drive on Linux or Mac
An advantage of using eCryptfs on Linux allows to open every encrypted USB~ Folders are not allowed ~/File without the correct password.

Get Integral flash drives, they already have password protection built in.

The First one with encryption algorithm and hash algorithm options, can someone tell us witch Method is the best, and what is the strongest protection? What effect have they on Linux, other Systems? Encrypt.: AES, Serpent, Twofish, AES-Twofish, AES-Twofish-Serpent, Serpent-AES, Serpent-Twofish-AES. Twofish-Serpent Hash.: RIPEMD-160, SHA-512, Whirlpool

That’s pretty cool, maybe I should try a copy of Linux with this “eCryptfs” program an run it in a V.M. an see if it can bypass the encryption method on this zip file that I have that I got off the internet.
I tried different decrypting programs for Windows, but this zip file is encrypted with 20 word or more encryption, an from what I have heard a decrypting program for Windows could take days or weeks if not months to crack it because the file is 20 characters long.
Is there a certain type of Linux that houses this “eCryptfs” program??????
Yes you got PN.
