ok thanks i will try
i tried it but when i boot from boot menu in ubuntu first time it start configuring for first time and stops with an error saying that no root drive is defined
i think it is becoz ubuntu having trouble in finding my hard drive
isn’t here anyone how can help me……
Uhm I think because when installing you have 2 hd’s, your normal hd and the sd card.
I’d say: go into your bios and disable your HD, now just boot up the setup and when installing you should only see 1 HD(Your sd card).
So just install Ubuntu, now when you want to boot Windows just go to the boot menu(BIOS) and select to boot your HD, and when you want to boot Ubuntu just select your SD card.
Try that
Just download unetbootin and its pretty straight forward
Select iso
Ensure usb drive is formatted in fat32
Select usb drive
Copy files accross
Boot from usb.

But the problem is not installation problem, it’s a configuration problem.
Ubuntu should load perfectly. It loads to memory and doesnt touch your hard drives…
hey , i tried unetbootin but didn’t work my system didn’t boot from sd card
, thanks seems like a good idea but it is impractical bocz every time i have to boot from sd card i have to disable my hd and again enable it on next reboot
sure i will try it to check it
Have you been able to boot anything from SD card? not all laptops CAN boot from SD card. Can boot from USB though…
When your laptop is booting you should be able to change the boot options or enter a boot choice menu that will allow you to select the boot device. If SD card isnt their then it just flat out isnt possible without either a bios upgrade OR custom bios installed for your laptop. If them options arent available then you can either install to USB or not install it….
no i havn’t been able to boot any thing from sd card
may be your right
i have dell inspiron n5010, can u tell me about bios upgrade or custom bios how can i install it on my laptop
I can’t see anythign online about booting from SD card TBH, maybe someone with a bit more experience with this sort of laptop might be able to help. I’m currently using a Samsung N110 and don’t think that can boot from memory card either…
