TpLink router question

September 3rd, 2021

Hello,
I have a C7 archer TPLINK router. On the back it has two usb ports which I can attach a usb hard drive to, and make it into a media server.
My question is: Can I attach a usb hub in order to plug in multiple usb harddrives at the same time?

Answer #1
i doubt it. Routers usually don’t have the usb host functionality. Just the standard protocols to recognise a drive. There’s only 2 ways you can know for sure
1. Ask the tp link support
2. try it.
Answer #2
alright
thanks mate
Answer #3
Unless it’s a v3.0 USB, which on that router isn’t, using multiple HDDs thru a single USB will be slow as hell and drive you insane. Invest in a cheap NAS. The speed difference between USB and ethernet is huge.
